Soviet Russian USSR medal Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 600-thousand range, awarded in 1944 to Colonel Ivan Mikhailovich Filimonov, Commander of the 214th and 198th Rifle Regiments, Kamchatka Defensive Region, 2nd Far-Eastern Front. Filimonov earned the Order of Suvorov 3rd Class for the 1945 campaign against the Japanese Army on the Kuril Islands! The citation for this Red Star praises Filimonov for his command qualities and for the regiment’s state of preparation. It also provides a complete Service Record from 1927 thru 1944. The citation for his Order of Suvorov 3rd Class covers the amphibious landings on Shumshu and Paramushir, for the « destruction, capture, and disarmament of Japanese units. » Note that only 3 Rifle Regiments took part in these landings, including the 198th (Filimonov Commanding) Rare award to a Regiment Commander who served with distinction in historically significant battles in the war against Japan! Condition is as seen in the images! A screw disc is included (not depicted). The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously!
