Carver C-1 Preamplifier – Serviced and very UpgradedPlease check images for case condition. There are some small nicks and scratches. I am selling this one as I have one I am keeping Better than a BillD upgrade as all ICs including the Sonic Holography ICs are upgraded for greatly improved sound and detail when used. So now turning on Sonic Holography doesn’t send you back to the slow specs of the original ICs. All electrolytic capacitors replaced with Nichicon, Nichicon Muse, Nichicon Gold, KemetAll controls / switches cleaned – All knobs cleanedAll ICs replaced with sockets and upgradesLED replaced with blue color to show it’s specialHeadphone resistors replaced with lower values for lower impedance and better power transfer. The original RC4136 ICs have a very slow slew rate and gain bandwidth product (How fast they respond and how flat the response is based on volume and frequency) This unit will have FULL amazing sound from your Carver C-1 when using all features as all audio path ICs have been upgraded to well respected and exceptionally rated circuits). A standard BillD upgrade does not touch the tone, subsonic or Sonic Holography system. The (2 custom dual) main ICs for volume and tone are now LM4562 (Very fast and full flat response) The (2 Custom dual ) headphone and phono ICs are now OP1656 (Very fast, high current) The (5 custom dual ICs) Sonic Holography ICs replaced with 5532 Op Amps. (Very nice industry standard) The Power supply was upgraded to handle the extra power needs of the new ICsThe resistors for the headphone circuit were changed to allow more current and better utilize the extra current provided by the OP1656 The ICs are glued down for shipping but the glue comes off easily with alcohol should you want to make further changes.
