Just today I revised and updated Vintage Bows II, fixing a couple of mis-spellings and a couple of ID errors and also created a download e-Book version. Changes to postal rates and the printer’s « handling and packing » fee force me to hold the mail cost as before, but the books, if mailed directly arrive USPS 1st Class, which is NOW trackable. If mailed from me directly, I will continue with Priority Mail. NOW THE BIG NEWS! I am days away from releasing Vintage Bows III. Almost two years in the writing, it compliments Volume II by adding new info not before assembled on Browning, Blackhawk, Pearson, Root and Shakespeare bows. In anticipation, I am lowering the price of Vintage II as the volumes are really companions of one another. 11/15/13 Thanks for all the nice words about Volume II. I’ve re-upped the listing quantity today but held the mail cost steady even through the recent rate hikes. I continue to learn more « stuff », but Volume III remains a long way from reality. As I monitor and participate in traditional archery chat rooms, I see archers continuing to ask questions that the books answer, but since these volumes are a hobby and labor of appreciation, I cannot self-promote on those forums. I spent this last year gathering new information and photos of vintage bows, primarily USA built-post WW2 and assembling it all into Vintage Bows-II, and here it is! Vintage Bows-I was and remains an introduction for the novice stick-and-string-bow traditional archer. Vintage Bow-II is NOT a re-hash of Volume-1, instead it is written with a focus on the archer with more experience who wants to take his/her interest in our hobby to the next knowledge level. As I began to gather additional information and old-bow history for Vintage-II, I quickly hit a wall. Who am I to think I’m qualified to write more than I did in the first book? So I asked for help from other traditional archers and old bow collectors. The book has more individual contributors than I can readily list. But three true experts really stepped up. No one knows more about the bows of past decades than George Stout. Rick Barbee has been studying bowstring performance for decades. Stu Miller, inventor of The Dynamic Arrow Spine Calculator has turned the old ways of matching arrows to a bow from trial-and-error into an easy and precise method, and in Vintage-II, he details both the creation of beautiful and accurate arrows AND how to get the best results from the DSC software program. 18 chapters, 187 pages and over 200 photos, Vintage-II is nearly twice the size of Vintage-I.
