Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a beautiful, vintage, men’s, Art Deco, Benrus watch. This watch is rectangular in shape, measuring 28 mm in diameter, excluding the crown, and 30 mm in length, excluding the lugs. The Art Deco case bezel has a lovey design with bowed sides. I think this watch is likely a 1940s model but it could be early 50s. The case serial number is 253393. I can’t find any markings that say if the case is gold filled, but the wear patterns on it definitely show raised edges between the gold shell and base metal below, so I’d say it’s at least rolled gold plate with a stainless steel back. The movement in this watch is a Model BB 4 and it has 17 jewels. I’ve included photos of the movement to better answer questions. The watch looks very lovely, but it is an old timepiece and therefore does show signs of wear and age. The crystal has some nicks and scuffs on its surface and the outer gold shell of the case shows wear along the edges and corners of the case and lugs. The little tension rod that attaches the band is poking out a little bit on one side. The watch dial shows some discoloration and dinginess due to age, not bad though. I personally like the signs of age in this watch because they are subtle enough that the watch still looks very nice but they also give it a bit of character. The gold of the watch case has a rose tint to it. I’m not sure if this is original or from a patina, but it sure is pretty! The lovely band is by Regal and it has10k gold filled caps with a stainless steel underside. The band is in gorgeous vintage condition with some visible wear along the outer edges and raised points of the design. It is a one-piece-expandable band and is functionally it is in good working order. The watch is running at the time of listing, but it initially wasn’t. I did a little trick of pulling out and pushing in the crown and it started, so the new owner will definitely need to have the watch serviced/repaired if it is to be a reliable time piece. I can make no guarantees about the watch’s future working condition as I know nothing of its history or when it was last serviced, and I have no idea of servicing and repair entails. As this is a vintage time piece, some degree of servicing and repair should be anticipated. You should factor this cost into your decision to buy. You are buying the watch AS IS. I’ve included video of the watch running so interested buyers may feel confident of its working condition. After purchase, before I ship, I will check the watch again and take a second video of it running as proof of its working condition at the time of shipping. If I discover the watch has stopped working, I will contact the buyer so he or she may reconsider the purchase and either renegotiate a price or cancel the sell all together. If the watch is running, as it should be, I’ll video the watch and let the buyer know the watch has shipped. The sell may be canceled up to the point that I ship. Once the watch leaves my possession at the post office, the sell is final. While this watch may need maintenance, it is a gorgeous, vintage time piece, whose appearance makes it a great candidate for restoration, as it looks lovely as it is, with the exception that the crystal shows some age and wear.
